SWEET!

Sep. 29, 2013By: Sandy Swanson

Every one knows that we have cute kids. That is one of our prerequisites for admission! But we recently found out that we have some pretty sweet kids too. We were in the midst of an emotional and difficult situation with one of our kids,  we had to tell him that he would be leaving CSC. He is a great kid, we had just come to the realization that CSC was not the best place for him. Praise the Lord we found a good place for him in a family - but this was still a very difficult task that was weighing heavily on us. Literally, just a few minutes before Ruth and I had to have that conversation with the young man who would have to leave CSC, four of our darling young teen and pre-teen girls presented us with an artistic creation that they had done all on their own. I had seen them working on something earlier in the week, but they quickly hid it from me, I thought it was just a silly girl thing. It was not. These girls presented us with this work of art (from their heart) at the time that it could encourage us the most! It was the sweetest thing. They didn't know we were dealing with this especially tough situation at that moment in time. It was an encouragement and a reminder to us that God is using CSC to change hearts. I thank God for the sweet kids that he sends our way. And I thank these SWEET girls for being God's hands and voice to us at a time that we needed it!

Cute kids

Jul. 20, 2013By: Sandy Swanson

If a photo is worth a thousand words...this will be a long blog post.

Each of the kids had to tell me something that a farmer would do while wearing this hat.   Planting rice and plowing a field with a Caribao (water buffalo) were the most common answers.

We do have one young man who said that a farmer would use a hammer.....I believe that was because farmer and hammer rhymed,  he also told me that  the farmer might use a  stick.  Hmmmm.

Enjoy the CSC smiles!

A few minutes at CSC

Jul. 5, 2013By: Sandy Swanson

The best time to visit CSC is between 3:30 pm (kids get out of school) and 5:00 pm (the bells ring for the kids to do chores or go in the house for bathtime and getting ready for supper.)   If you are here between these times you  will see a yard full of kids doing an amazing number of  different things.   It never ceases to impress me how many things can be going on in our playground at one time!

I took a few minutes to take some photos this afternoon.  I know I missed some of the action but we had kids busy playing with basketballs, soccerballs,  foam bats and  baseballs,  frisbees,  playing the infamous "rubber band game", catching bugs,  swinging,  climbing,  practising their gymnastic skills,  biking,  taking some time to be alone,  visiting,  and last, but certainly not least,  trying to decide if a tantrum was in order or not....

Spoiler alert - apparently it was.

The week that was.....

May. 3, 2013By: Sandy Swanson

Every week has it's own excitement,  and it's own joys and problems to deal with.  This week was no exception.  We have had a fun week with the kids.  Summer vacation is on,  summer school and summer fan classes have started.  We have recently admitted seven new kids ages three to nine;  so we  have  lots of behavior to observe and respond to with them.  One of our little guys had the experience of having his very excited adoptive family emerge from the van....a family was made.   We have had birthday parties to celebrate and spent one afternnoon cooling off with the little swimming pools.   We were concerned about our Jacob,  he had to be hospitalized, but as of a few minutes ago Jacob's  very happy room mate (that would be Joemar) came running to my office to report that Jacob was home!  Kites are still the afternoon activity of choice for the boys.  Sidewalk chalk art was one days project.  Roselyn found a way to keep her newly claimed  kitten close to home....   We  do admit to complaining about how hot is it about every 13 seconds, but,  over all it was a good week!

UFO's and Graduates

Apr. 16, 2013By: Sandy Swanson

It is summer time at CSC.   That means it is hot, really hot,  too hot.  But,  the heat does not seem to deter the boys from making and flying kites,  at any given moment there are numerous kite activities going on; making them, attempting to fly them,  flying them, untangling the ones that get tangled together,  trying to get them out of the trees  and making sure we all see how high their kite is flying! There has to be some genetic code in all red blooded Filipino boys....April and May are for kites.

Today was GRADUATION day for five of our Preschool kids and three graduating from elementary into High School.  It was a fun day for the Graduates!

We are now legally on our summer break - pray for a fun and safe time for each of our kids, and for our sanity! Having almost 90 kids on vacation in one place....oh my.

Enjoy the photos...
