Invested
This past weekend was banquet weekend for CSC. We here in Cebu, the staff and children, were very much invested in all of this. We made a couple of videos for the events, a silly dance type video for the adoptive families party on Friday night, and a parade video for the banquet. It was a lot of work and everyone joined in and did a great job. I couldn't believe how hard the kids worked in extreme heat to do the parade video, and how they didn't complain or lose interest in the project.
We care a lot about the events and efforts that are extended to raise funds and promote this ministry. We are happy to pitch in and do our part, and to pray for those who work hard to be able to send money here to purchase food and medicine, and to pay the salaries of our workers. The children understand what it takes for them to be able to live at CSC. It takes lots of generous people and those to tell them about CSC.
I wish you could hear the children pray at night, always including our supporters. They pray blessings on each of you and your families. We are invested in all that goes on at CSC, for we are the benefiaries of your kindness. I hope the people who viewed the videos enjoyed them as much as we did making them. Here are a few pictures of the kids, captured from those videos. They aren't very clear because they aren't actual photographs but screen grabs. But I thought you might enjoy them anyway.
Banquet Surprise
Hey, we're working on a cool surprise for the CSC banquet. I won't give you even a hint, except that the kids and staff here in Cebu are really excited about it. Some of you will be able to see it at the banquet. (If you haven't registered yet, you can do so by clicking here.) Some will have to wait for a video here on the web site. That's all you're going to get, for now!
An early morning hike with Uncle Marv and Auntie Marlys
7:00 am is early for some folks on a Saturday morning, but for the CSC kids its a great time for a morning hike. Recently Auntie Marlys invited a visitor, Marv Hadenfeldt, to join her and 20 of the kids for a hike up the mountain to see the sights and enjoy the beauty of nature. Marv is a regular visitor to CSC and loves to hang out with the gang. And the feeling is mutual.
Friends
Friendships are an important part of life at CSC. Although most of our children have siblings at CSC (about two thirds), they all seek out friends in their age group and enjoy hanging out, playing, making music and talking about life. Our kids can easily find friends who have similar backgrounds and can understand and accept what they have gone through in life. Some friendships can go on for several years, depending on how long the children stay at CSC. When a child leaves for adoption there are often sad friends left behind who wonder if they'll ever see them again. In some cases, friendships that began at CSC can pick up later on when children are placed in the same geographical area. Check out a few pictures of friends at CSC:
Adoption Consciousness Week 2013
For the second straight year, CSC participated in Adoption Consciousness Week in Cebu City. The celebration is aimed at increasing knowledge and interest in local adoption. CSC children joined the motorcade and a special program that featured musical numbers from local child caring institutions, a video that highlighted their programs and services, and some brief talks by officials of the Department of Social Welfare and Development. Our own Mae Ann and Margie emceed the program and did a great job.
