It obviously takes a lot to power our school and shelter and all of our buildings. We do our best to reduce electricity, turning off lights when not in use, using windows and skylights for lighting when possible and very minimal use of air conditioning. (Only a few rooms in all of our buildings even have air conditioning!) Giving to this special project provides the power to wash the clothes, keep the food cold in the refrigerators and keep the light on for caregivers in the nursery rocking babies in the middle of the night.
In 2019, we installed solar panels on the school and shelter. This step has decreased our electricity costs by about 30%! We hope for more cost savings in the years to come.
